A report about the conditions that make connection possible.

More in Common spent two years studying how Americans think about connecting across differences of race, ethnicity, income, religion, and political viewpoint. More than 6,000 people participated, with regional work in Houston, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh.

The report found that most people value connection and are especially interested when they can work toward a shared goal. The most commonly reported barrier was not opposition. It was a lack of opportunity.

Houston Food Bank’s Dining with Purpose appears in the Houston regional spotlight. More in Common also evaluated the fall 2024 program, connecting this national research to work documented elsewhere in this portfolio.

I am keeping the report here because it gives useful evidence for a practical question: what helps people move from wanting connection to actually experiencing it?
