Information you share

When you contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email, organization, message and the work you are interested in. Scheduling a conversation may also involve contact details and appointment information collected through Zoom.

When we work together, records may include contact and account information, agreements, project materials, inventories, session notes, correspondence, invoices and payment records. The information depends on the engagement and what you choose to share. Account credentials are handled through our authentication provider.

Information from using the website

Our hosting and website services process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, request logs and performance measurements. We use this information to operate the site, understand its use, troubleshoot problems and limit abuse.

The site uses cookies or browser storage for features such as sign-in and remembering activity in interactive work. Blocking or clearing this storage may affect those features.

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand website use and performance. Vercel describes its Web Analytics as using aggregated statistics without third-party cookies. Google Analytics may also operate where configured. Google and embedded services can process information under their own policies, including information about activity across other services. Our Google Analytics integration is designed not to load when it detects Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. This does not turn off the site's essential operation or every embedded service. You can also use browser controls to manage cookies and tracking.

Participating in public creative work

Some parts of this site invite participation. They have different privacy expectations from private client work.

Three Good Things: a submission can include reflections, first name, ZIP code, email and an optional image link. Approved contributions can display the reflections, name and ZIP code publicly. Email is collected with the submission but is not included in the public feed. Share only material you are comfortable making public, and avoid including another person's private information.

Familiar Geometry: text entered to create an object is sent to OpenAI for moderation and image generation. Generated images and their labels may appear in the public artwork or gallery. The feature also uses a hashed identifier derived from network and browser information to limit requests and browser storage to remember creation activity. Please do not enter confidential or identifying information into this public creative feature.

How we use information

We use information to respond to inquiries, schedule conversations, provide agreed services, prepare and organize materials, manage client access, maintain business and payment records, communicate about the work, and improve and protect the website. Where you ask to hear about our work, we may also use your contact information for those updates; you can ask us to stop.

Service providers and payments

Information is processed through services used to operate the business. These include Vercel for hosting and website measurements, Supabase for website data and authentication, Google Workspace and Drive for communication and documents, and Zoom for scheduling and meetings. Embedded video or other linked services may receive technical information when their content loads or you use them.

When you make a payment through Stripe, Stripe processes the payment information and may collect billing, device and transaction information for payment processing, security and its legal obligations. We receive relevant transaction information to manage invoices and accounts. Stripe's processing is explained in its Privacy Policy. Payments by check or direct bank transfer are recorded separately as applicable.

Digital tools, including Plaud, OpenAI/ChatGPT and Anthropic/Claude, may assist with transcription, organizing source material and preparing drafts in our service work. The information processed depends on the tool and engagement. This notice does not provide permission to record a session or override an agreement about confidentiality or the use of client material. Discuss any restrictions on recording or AI-assisted processing with David as part of the engagement.

We may also disclose information when legally required or when necessary to address fraud, security incidents or legal claims. Service providers may process information in the United States and other countries under their applicable terms and privacy policies.

Coaching confidentiality

Coaching communications are subject to the confidentiality commitments in your agreement. We do not use this website privacy notice to change those commitments or to obtain permission to publicize a coaching relationship. Where your agreement requires written permission before disclosure, that requirement continues to apply, together with any stated exception for disclosure required by law.

Keeping and protecting records

We keep information for the purposes described here, including providing services, maintaining necessary business records and meeting legal obligations. Retention depends on the record and purpose; this policy does not promise one fixed period for all information.

We use access controls and other safeguards appropriate to the systems we use. No website, email or storage service can guarantee complete security. Deleting an item from an active system may not immediately remove backups, records a provider is required to retain or copies someone has already made of public material.

Your choices and requests

Use our contact form to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, raise a concern, or ask us to stop optional updates. Please identify the information or service concerned; do not send passwords or full payment-card details. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing private records.

Privacy rights vary by location and applicable law. Where required, these may include access, correction, deletion, a copy of information, or objection to certain processing. We will consider requests under the applicable requirements and explain any limits, such as records that must be retained. For public contributions, you may request removal from the site, although we cannot retrieve copies held by others.

Changes to this policy

We will post changes on this page and update the effective date. For material changes affecting existing client information, we will provide additional notice where required. Your service agreement continues to govern its own confidentiality and consent requirements.
