Urban Cathedral
Urban Cathedral began while I was traveling east on I-10 at the Beltway 8 interchange and thinking about symmetry, traffic, time, God, bad radio, and road rage.
The freeway became the structure.
I began with the transept, nave, apse, and pulpit of a cathedral. As the installation developed, the idea became more playful: green space, unusual light, photographic patterns, and an homage to the freeway exchange.

Jason Makepeace and John Walker helped with construction. Art Attack supported the graphics, and QUE Imaging turned around the Duratran prints in 36 hours. My wife, Christa, and daughter, Clara, gave me the time to make the work.
